Mike Crapps Receives Top Honor on the Banking Power List

November 11, 2021 (Lexington, SC)  – SC Biz News has recognized First Community Bank Chief Executive Officer Mike Crapps as the number one “Power Player” in the banking sector in South Carolina. The publication’s reporting on the rollout of the Paycheck Protection Program led their editorial team to launch the Power List project with banking and financial sector professionals. The special issue serves to recognize the important role bankers played in ensuring that small and medium-sized businesses in the state stayed operational during the economic crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Crapps is a co-founder of First Community Bank and has served as its chief executive officer, as well as on its board of directors, since opening the bank more than 25 years ago. Under his leadership, the bank has grown to be the fourth largest bank in South Carolina and the largest headquartered in the Midlands, with 21 offices and more than $1.5 billion in assets. First Community Bank’s focus has always been on serving local businesses, organizations and professional practices.

“We have long known that Mike’s leadership style is in a class of its own. He never loses sight of what matters most to our customers, employees and community,” said Chimin J. “Jimmy” Chao, chairman of the board of First Community Bank.

Crapps has served in a variety of leadership roles, including on the boards of the S.C. Bankers Association, Saluda Shoals Foundation, American Cancer Society, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Virginia. He currently serves on the Clemson University Foundation Board of Directors, Clemson University IPTAY Board of Directors, Midlands Business Leadership Group and the Business Development Corporation.
